Vegetable Cheela is savory and tasty pancakes made with gram flour(besan). This is one of my favorite and frequently made recipe. I usually make this recipe for morning breakfast or for dinner, as it is highly rich in proteins and easy to digest.

You can make this recipe for brunch/ evening meal and also a good option for all moms to make this as tiffin snacks for their kids. Vegetable cheelas are very very healthy and tasty recipe.

I have used here onion, tomato and coriander to make this recipe. You can add your choice of grated vegetable to the batter like cabbage, carrot, cucumber etc, to make vegetable cheelas.

Vegetable Cheela Recipe:


Serves:4

Preparation time: 10-15 Mins
Cooking Time: 10 Mins

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 Medium Tomato(grated)
  • 2 Medium Onion(grated)
  • Small bunch of Coriander leaves(Finely chopped)
  • 1-2 tsp Ginger-Green chilly paste(refer vegetable pancake recipe for making paste)
  • 1/2-2 cup Gram flour/besan
  • 250 ml water
  • 1 tsp Asafoetida, hing
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chilly Powder
  • Salt to taste
METHOD:

Cheela Batter

  1. Take a broad bowl, in that add 1/2-2 cup gram flour/besan, add  250ml of water, grated onions, tomatoes, finely chopped coriander leaves, turmeric powder, red chilly powder, asafoetida, salt and ginger-chilly paste. Mix all the ingredients properly in a bowl, and make the batter.
  2. Batter consistency should be similar as shown in the above pic.


     3. Take a non-stick pan, spread the batter on the pan as shown in the above pic,                 Brush the sides of the cheela with oil. keep on medium flame
     4. After 2 mins invert the cheela with the help of the spatula, you will see that                bottom surface will turn brown. Cook the another side in the same way till it turns         brown. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of batter. Serve hot cheelas

SERVE HOT!!

Can be served with: Coriander chutney/pickle/tomato ketchup
