Pongal contains rice and Split green gram lentil which is high in proteins and healthy too. It is tempered with aromatic asafoetida and cumin leaves with the flavour of clarified butter/ghee. Pongal will have a nice aroma of clarified butter and asafoetida which will make it quite tasty.
It does not contain any spices so it's good for small kids or elders who cant eat spicy food.
