Spinach-Pulse Curry
Spinach- Lentil curry is also known as Palak dal in India, this is one of my favourite dish. Palak dal can be taken in a meal as curry or normal vegetable with flat bread.

Palak dal is very very healthy and tasty combination of lentil( rich in proteins) and Spinach(rich in fibres) tempered with rich spices, which gives an aromatic flavour to the curry also onion and garlic give a strong flavour to the palak dal.

A Quick Tip: Have this Spinach - pulses curry with brown rice/flatbread in lunch.
In dinner have a brown bread Sandwich(without butter). You will surely see 200-300 gms decrease in weight. 

Spinach-Pulses Curry
Serves:2
Preparation Time:30 Mins
Cooking Time: 25 Mins

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup Yellow Pigeon pea (soak it for 30 mins in the water)
  • 1 tsp Olive oil/clarified butter
  • 1 Red chilli(dry)
  • 2 Cloves
  • 2 Black Peppercorns
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1 Cinamon Stick
  • 1/2 spoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 medium size finely chopped Onion
  • 1 small finely chopped Ginger
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Paste
  • 1 small Tomato finely chopped
  • 1 Bunch Spinach finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • Garam Masala Powder( available in any Indian Store)
  • Salt to taste
METHOD:
  1. Boil the Yellow Pigeon Pea in a cooker for 3 whistles.
  2. Take a pan , add 1 tsp olive oil/clarified butter, add 1 Dry Red chilli, 2 cloves, black peppercorns, Bay leaf, Cinnamon Stick, Mustard Seeds, Cumin Seeds.
  3. Saute it for a 1 min, add chopped Onions, Saute it till it turns brown, add chopped ginger, garlic paste, Tomato, saute till Tomato becomes soft.
  4. Add Turmeric powder, Red Chilly Powder, add boiled pigeon pea.
  5. Add water for consistency, add Salt, Garam Masala and let it boil for 2-3 mins.
  6. Garnish with Coriander leaves.
SERVE HOT!!

Can be Served with: Brown rice/steamed rice/Indian flatbread.
